STAT Planning, part of The STAT Group, has played a key role in supporting Rushcliffe Borough Council in securing planning approval for the redevelopment of Nottingham Forest FC’s City Ground.
The ambitious two-stage development will see the stadium’s capacity increase from 31,000 to 45,000, with a further planned expansion to 52,500.
Beyond increasing capacity, the proposals aim to transform the City Ground into a year-round destination, incorporating a new public plaza, conferencing and hospitality facilities. The development is also expected to create hundreds of jobs and deliver a significant boost to the regional economy.
Charlotte Thompson, Principal Planner at STAT Planning, has acted as lead planning officer for Rushcliffe Borough Council on both applications. Having initially led the work during her time at the Council, Charlotte continued in the role as a consultant following her move to STAT Planning, providing valuable continuity throughout the planning process.
Working closely with Nottingham Forest and the wider project team, Charlotte has helped navigate complex technical matters, address planning challenges and ensure that the views of the local community were considered.
The project represents a significant milestone for Nottingham Forest and the wider region, while demonstrating STAT Planning’s expertise in supporting complex, high-profile planning applications.
Congratulations to Charlotte and everyone involved in helping bring this ambitious redevelopment forward.
